Semi-Solid Stains

This unique semi-solid/semi-opaque finish masks the wood grain but allows texture to show through. While Semi-Solid Stains provide greater opacity, they still highlight the natural texture of wood and provide a deep-penetrating, flat finish

For the Rocket Scientist Explanation..

WeatherShield pressure-treated wood can be stained in the same way as any other exterior-grade wood. The biggest issue when staining pressure-treated wood lies in the time that must be allowed to pass after the wood is purchased before it can be stained. Because of the moisture in the pressure-treated wood, I must wait at least 30 days before staining it.

I must clean the WeatherShield pressure-treated wood thoroughly with a wood degreaser. This is particularly important if I am using the wood in an area where you prepare food, such as on your new picnic table per chance. Then, I use a stiff broom to remove dirt and other debris from the surface of the wood. Allow the wood to dry for 24 hours before continuing.

Apply a coat of clear wood preservative to the WeatherShield pressure-treated wood with a good-quality paintbrush to keep it from deteriorating in the elements. Allow the preservative to dry for six to eight hours before I handle the wood. This clear preservative can be applied as soon as the pressure-treated wood is purchased. It will help keep the wood in good condition during the waiting period required before I can stain it.

Wait 30 days before applying the stain to the WeatherShield pressure-treated wood.

Apply a coat of oil-based wood stain with a soft, lint-free cloth. Dip the cloth into the stain, and gently massage the stain into the WeatherShield pressure-treated wood. Allow the stain to rest on the wood for about 30 seconds, then wipe the excess away with another clean cloth. Discard the cloths as they become saturated. Continuing to use the cloths after they are saturated would redistribute the stain across the wood. Allow the stain to dry for about two hours before applying additional coats
